Modern Kitchen Organization Ideas
Have you ever wondered how some people can keep their kitchens looking so nice and organized? They are probably using one or more of these modern kitchen organization ideas.
It probably doesn’t happen by accident. The secret to a tidy kitchen is staying on top of it. This means taking the time to put things away before you start cooking dinner. Or washing dishes after each meal. Sounds like a lot, huh?
It may seem like a daunting task at first, but keeping your kitchen clean is surprisingly easy. That’s if you know the secrets to staying organized. With the right modern kitchen organization ideas in place, you will be able to find things much more quickly and efficiently. With a little time and effort each day, you can find yourself admiring your sparkling clean kitchen every night after dinner!
In this blog post, I am going to share with you five of my favorite tips for keeping your kitchen organized and most important of all, spotless!
1) Lazy Susan
A Lazy Susan is a circular rotating tray that serves as an organizing centerpiece for your countertop. They are extremely useful since you can spin them around to access any spices or seasonings in seconds! Since the lazy susan turns, there’s no need to take out several different jars one by one – making it much easier to find what you need. Plus, the lazy susan keeps all of your spices in one place and off your countertop!
To keep a Lazy Susan clean and fresh-looking, try placing a decorative piece of contact paper on top to give it some extra flair. You can also use a chalkboard or magnetic paint to label each jar so that you always know what you’re grabbing.
2) Pot Lids
Pot lids are extremely easy to misplace, so I find that the best way to keep them from getting lost is by simply hanging them on a pegboard. You can use an old spice rack or even just a small board with pegs – anything you have lying around will do! Just be sure that it’s big enough to hold all of your lids.
While you’re at it, make sure to include a couple of hooks on the bottom for any hand towels or oven mitts that are frequently in use! Even if you have cabinet space below your countertop, hanging some items underneath is much more effective since cooking utensils and other kitchen tools will be in plain sight.
Keep in mind, you can do this with virtually any item that might get misplaced – pot lids are just one idea! Just be sure to label the utensils so that no one gets confused when looking for a specific spoon or spatula.
3) Cookbooks
If you have a large cookbook collection but are running out of storage space in your kitchen cabinets or pantry, try storing them on the inside of one cabinet door. All you need to do is remove the original shelf and replace it with some pieces of plywood that can serve as book holders! Just be sure not to place anything too heavy on top, since the weight might cause your cabinet doors to sag.
To keep all of your cookbooks organized and easy to find, simply use a label maker or some colored duct tape for each one so that you know exactly where everything is at a glance! This will save you from pulling out several different books to find a recipe.
4) Utensils
If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to keep your utensils organized, try using either an over-the-door or wall-mounted rack. You can find these items in just about any home goods store – even the dollar section at Target! It doesn’t matter which one you choose as long as it’s designed to fit your needs and is small enough to fit in a cabinet.
To keep the utensils from getting dusty, simply take out each item and wipe it down with some soapy water once or twice per month. This will also help ensure that you always know where everything is at a glance! Of course, as a bonus, this rack will keep your utensils off the countertop and in a more convenient location.
5) Recycling and Trash
I like to keep a recycling bin and trash can hidden inside of one cabinet. This is helpful for two reasons: if the bins are not easily accessible, you will be less likely to throw recyclable items or food away; plus it keeps them out of sight until they’re ready to go outside! Just make sure that the bins are large enough to fit your recycling and garbage without overflowing.
Another way to keep things hidden is by using a storage container for recyclables underneath your sink. This keeps all of those empty soda cans, milk jugs, or water bottles out of sight until you take them outside! Plus it’s much more convenient than having a separate recycling bin for each room.
If you only have one trash can, make sure to keep it hidden inside of a cabinet as well – this way no one will ever see the messy aftermath! Just be sure that it’s not too deep so you’re able to reach the bottom when throwing things away.
Using different-sized containers for recycling and garbage throughout your home is also a great idea! This way, there’s no need to go searching in another room if one bin gets full faster than another. Plus it saves space by only having bins in the rooms where they’re needed.
Organizing your recycling and garbage is one of the easiest ways to keep things spotless in any room! Not only will it save you time when cleaning, but it’s also great for conserving energy since you won’t be throwing away unnecessary items every week.
Summary
Keeping your kitchen spotless doesn’t have to be difficult! Even the smallest details, like organizing your utensils and keeping recycling out of sight matter. They can make a big difference when it comes to looking clean and organized! Although it may seem like a lot of work at first, you’ll get the hang of it in no time!
