THE BRIEF
With a Cape Cod style home in New Hampshire– the clients wanted a traditional English kitchen with traditional architecture with a minimal and modern twist. The couple with 2 kids wanted a Contemporary British Kitchen where they could spend time together as a family.
THE DESIGN
The design concept combined influences from the couple’s lifestyles, tastes, and needs. As a family they wanted a family space, and the precious moments of spending time together was a key role in the design story. They wanted a place of serenity and peacefulness for their dynamic and fast-paced lives. It was the combination of city and landscape that was a key component of the design concept. As keen cooks, highly functional and sturdy space with large preparation areas to cook Italian recipes and make pasta with the family.
The island provided plenty of storage from both sides and so, helped. In addition, the family had a larder included. With a family of kids – we wanted to place the hob away from the island, a safer option for the kids and used the island for the sink instead. The island also houses the integrated bin and dishwasher in addition to some more storage.
The high-level ovens provided the cook with easy access to the food and the integrated fridge provided a sleek backdrop to the kitchen.

THE FINAL OUTCOME

SIMPLIFIED COOKING
First, we used high-level ovens to add a modern feel and utility to the space. These appliances make it easy to reach in and get prepared food and they complement this British Contemporary Kitchen design overall.
CHILD-SAFE ISLAND
Next, instead of placing the stove within the island, we placed the sink instead. Overall, this is a safer option for families with children. And we made good use of the space with added storage, dishwasher, and integrated bin.
