THE BRIEF
This well-off Surrey, England couple in the financial sector needed space for their three children to enjoy. They wanted a traditional, warm kitchen with a modern twist. Additionally, they needed plenty of storage for all their cookery books, kid’s games, and smaller free-standing appliances. Lastly, they loved the idea of bespoke British Kitchen Cabinetry, oak finishes and a hint of red.
THE DESIGN
The show-stopping element in this transitional kitchen renovation is a prominently elevated island piece. This features a solid oak timber slab that could virtually double a true chef’s work surface. All the while, it retains an air of unmatched boldness. And it’s functional too. The pop-up electrical hub allows for all appliances to connect without dangling cords. And a hot tap provides boiling water without steep energy bills. Finally, this is framed with a countertop by Silestone- a Spanish Quartz brand, offering a durable and easy to clean surface.

As part of the island’s design, this large island had to have plenty of drawers. The goal is to allow easy access to plenty of storage and practicality. It was essential to have the kitchen area transition into the dining area with ease. We did this by bringing oak through the space. But we kept the fun with pops of red in the tiling, seating, and accessories. Overall, the intention was to make this kitchen the family’s favorite room. They wanted a place to entertain, cook, do homework, and essentially live—a hub for this family
Overall, the result is a light and spacious family kitchen with standout bespoke British Kitchen Cabinetry.
THE INSPIRATION
THE FINAL OUTCOME
FORM AND FUNCTION
We incorporated intelligent organization options by placing tall units with lots of drawers. This allowed for cookery books, kid’s games, and a vast amount of small freestanding appliances. We tied the design into the overall home theme with oak accents.
ACCENT COLOR
We wanted to infuse the warm kitchen with a splash of color. And so we used a vibrant red color for the splashback of the induction hob. Then ran it through the seating and other smaller accessories scattered throughout the kitchen space.
Hear our client’s thoughts:
“We wanted to find someone who could turn our strong ideas into a really
individual kitchen. Claudia immediately understood what we wanted in
a way that the other well-known companies that we had consulted hadn’t. She
understood our ideas perfectly and was able to suggest things that we hadn’t
thought about. Claudia’s flexible and positive approach to the project was really
impressive and the quality of the workmanship was nothing like we even expected…
She is outstanding!!!
The result is fantastic.”
